Prenatal Sessions

"Plans are nothing, but planning is everything." -Dwight D. Eisenhower

Prenatal visits with me are a crucial step in the process of us learning to work together.

They provide opportunities for you to share your dreams and concerns with me.

The sessions also allow time and space for you to ask questions as you create a written labor plan.

They are also the perfect time to work together on coping measures and labor techniques.

Prenatal One

We will get to know each other a little better and begin working through your birth plan. I want to know what your questions are and make sure you have the best possible sources of information for decision-making. We will also practice some labor positions and breathing techniques together. This is a great time for you to ask questions about what you can expect during labor. These sessions typically last about an hour and are done in your home.

Prenatal Two

Session two is where we solidify your birth preferences, continue practicing any positions or breathing techniques that you would like to review, and discuss early postpartum plans. I would love to see your nursery and talk through questions you might have about feeding the baby, sleeping arrangements, and your care after your delivery. This is our last in-person session, but I am always available by phone to continue pre-labor support to you.

Labor Support

"Non nobis solum nati sumus."

Not for ourselves alone are we born.

-Marcus Tullius Cicero

Labor is the necessary stage a woman goes through in order for her baby to move from her womb to her arms.

By the time you've gotten to labor, we have planned and prepped well for it.

With my support, you can move confidently into this short phase,

knowing that your body is made to do this very thing.

Typically I will meet you once active labor has begun,

but I am available to you through all of labor as you need me.

This is when all of that practice becomes important.

I will help you to relax, breathe, and position your body to help you

and your baby move through labor as effectively as possible.

I'm there to bring as much comfort as I can and to support you

with evidence-based information when you need to make decisions.

I will be cheering you on through each step of the way.

Postpartum Support

"A Grand Adventure is about to begin."

-Winnie the Pooh

There will be a lot going on after your baby arrives.

Rest assured that I will still be right there with you for a couple of hours.

I can help you with your initial breastfeeding session(s) if you choose to breastfeed.

I will be there to help you get comfortable, get you drinks, pillows, blankets, etc.

I will also serve as another set of eyes to watch and see what is going on in the room around you.

In addition to taking pictures during labor,

I can take pictures of you and your baby to help with your memories of the special day.

At some point, it will become apparent that you are ready to be a family

without my assistance and I will leave you to enjoy each other.

I will call a few days after the baby's birth to give us a chance to review

your labor and to see how you're settling in.

I will be happy to be a continued resource to you by phone

should you have questions or need references in the next few weeks.
